It is some consolation to know that PA Governor Tom Ridge signed the execution order for Abu-Jamal as a result of the Supreme Court denying him a new trial. The sentence was to have been carried out December 2nd but of course has been appealed. From what I read in American Police Beat the rejection of a bid for a new trial makes the chances of a successful appeal of the death warrant virtually impossible.

(B.A.C.-U.P.) is pleased to announce that Philadelphia’s Pier 24 will host its 4th Annual Daniel Faulkner Memorial Motorcycle Run™/Family Fest on Sunday, June 2, 2002.In an effort to attract more supporters than the 8,000 – 10,000 riders who participate annually, B.A.C.-U.P. has expanded its post-run activities to include food and merchandise vendors and an exciting performance by Mirror Image Motorcycle Stunt Team. The line-up also includes an array of musical talent: blues recording artists, B.C. and The Blues Crew, the classic rock sounds of CC Lawmen, and the harmonies of the 3 CDs, the three talented young ladies who are “regulars” at all B.A.C.-U.P. events.
“We are excited about the change in format for our 4th annual event. The waterfront at Pier 24 offers the perfect backdrop for a family fest,” says Les Young, Chairman and founder of B.A.C.-U.P. Tom Howard, Site Director, adds, “We’ve planned a wide range of activities for participants of all ages, including entertainment for the kids.”
Officially sponsored by Geno’s Steaks of South Philly, the “parade of bikes” for the 4th Annual Daniel Faulkner Memorial Motorcycle Run™ will depart promptly at 10:30 a.m. from AMC 24 Theatres in Hamilton, NJ, and will converge approximately noon time at Pier 24 for a short ceremony hosted by WPHT talk radio’s, Dom Giordano and featuring an inspirational program by The Patriotic Voice of America, Petty Officer Jim Cava (U.S. Navy Retired). Of course, no B.A.C.-U.P. ceremony would be complete without a performance by the Philadelphia Police and Fire Pipe and Drum Band.
